In the end of 2009 on the spotlight of house scene suddenly came name – Christian Luke. Young and talented producer from Australia hit us up with some great releases that draw attention on our ears with his sound. He just found the right way to tell us that we should keep on eye him in 2010. And so was it… This year he is definitely one of the most active and best producers. It all began with his collaboration with Sonique. Together they brought us successful dance single “Givin’ It Up”. Shortly after that he came with massive reboot of classic dance track “David” originally performed by Icelandic band Gus Gus. It looked like house took his mind and he was just sending bomb after bomb from his studio. He just released great edit of “Para Ti” by Reekay Garcia on Onelove Records. By his works we should expect much more from him in 2010. Luke’s lovely progressive touch makes every track to become a hit. In collaboration with MTV we bring you exclusive interview. Enjoy!
^1 Hey Chris, can you introduce yourself in a few words?
Christian Luke from Melbourne, Australia! I make house music and love Grey Goose vodka!
^2 How did you get into House music and when did you started with the production?
I was originally into Hip-Hop/ RnB in my younger days, until a girlfriend of mine showed me a brand new track she was into that changed my life – The track was Blaze feat. Sybil – When I Fall In Love. I’ve been hooked ever since!
^3 So far, you are one of the most active producers in 2010. Where does inspiration come so you can make such a lot of tracks for a short time and what can we expect more from you?
You can expect plenty more in 2010 from me as I have found the direction I want to take with my craft! I find inspiration from all over really, whether it be from other house guys, RnB or whatever. I think success drives me too; it’s something I am very hungry for.
^4 Your style is very recognizable today. How did you create it?
That’s great to hear because that has taken such a long time to achieve! I asked Bart B More that a few years ago as a groupie in the club and I am going to give the same answer – It’s really a natural progression. When you do something often enough, there are certain things that you will change but others (e.g. percussion, etc) that you may keep in your newer tracks that will be your signature.
^5 What is your equipment in the studio?
An Apple laptop! Very convenient for when I’m on the road. Oh, and also my Sennheiser HD-650 headphones – They are excellent for production. I am running Logic 9 and do use Ableton 8 on the odd occasion too.
^6 Which artist is surprise for you in 2010. We know there are many of them, but which one did drew your attention?
Avicii! He is signed to Vicious as I am so I have been following him for quite a while now – I can’t believe how young he is! I got to hang out with him in Australia recently and I tried picking his brain to see what the secret is and I got it – Hard work!
^7 We had a chance to heard your collaboration with Chardy and Lome Podman. Are you planning to do some more of it with someone else? Have you ever thought about collaboration between you and Dragan Roganovic aka Dirty South? Do you know each other at all?
I have been chatting with a couple of other producers recently – Hopefully by the end of the year I will have something else happening with Bart B More and possibly Denzal Park from Australia too. Who else knows what will pop up! I have met Dragan a few times but dont know him well enough to collaborate.
^8 How is your DJ career going? Are there any big upcoming event?
I am busier than ever which is very exciting. I have my first international tour in a few weeks which will see me head over to Brazil for a month for 8 gigs and then we are currently locking in dates for Portugal in July.
^9 What is your biggest event so far in career? Do you have any favorite club or venue where you love to spin?
Biggest event so far would be at Family in Brisbane (AUS) late last year – The place is huge! So either Family or Platinum nightclub on the Gold Coast (AUS) would be my picks so far.
^10 What do you think about blogs and forums?
I think they are a great way to promote you. Forums started off my career as a producer so they are a great way to get in touch with the people from every corner of the globe!
^11 How do you see yourself in 10 years? Still bombarding us with the tracks or you have some other plans?
Haha 10 years! I did think about that recently and really not too sure… Sailing out in the Caribbean with my wife and 2 kids listening to house music from the 90s? Would be nice!
^12 Ok, here comes “one-shoot” questions. I tell you one word and you hit me back with your association of it.

MTV – Beyonce haha
Gold – $$$
Sunday – Family
Summer – Beach, sexy women, house music & Grey Goose
