In 2006 on internet was released track “We Gonna Feel It”. The balearic guitar with latin rhythm and emotional strings that passed as a total dancefloor bomb. People were crazy about that track. They thought Deep Dish made it, but Deep Dishl denied it and all of a sudden we found about Chris Lawyer. Chris Lawyer in collaboration with his colleague Thomy became in a few months worldwide famous. The track was supported by most of the Number 1 DJs all around the world (Bob Sinclar, Roger Sanchez, David Vendetta, Alex Gaudino, Chris Montana, Til West, Gadjo). Especially in Serbia and other countries was such a hit that people had ringtones and track was played a few times for one night in clubs.
We cought Chris on these christmas holidays to ask him a few questions about his plans in 2010, tracks and gigs. 
^1 Hey Chris, since I know you very well why don’t you introduce yourself to MTV Serbia readers and other worldwide?
Heey!
I’m Chris Lawyer and music is my case =)
^2 We are getting into new decade, so tell us what sound will prevail in future? More progressive, techno or electro house? What are you expactations on the scene?
Styles are merging in these years. Styles are containing styles of another style. There are no clean genre in these days. I think progressive melodies will take 2010 on electro beats.
^3 What are you up to currently? Any new releases or remixes can we expect?
Yes! There are so many projects in my witch-hut.
On 30th January comes out my collab remix with Toguar (aka Tony Jaguar) for Groove Society Sweden’s Bienvenidos. Original have been played by Tocadisco and Mark Knight and our version have been already supported by Agent Greg, Hy2rogen and fr3cky, Frank Frenzy, Marc Benjamin and many more!
There are some own tracks coming up, titled as “Messaya”, “Fire 4 The Floor”, “Back Seat”, “New Moon Shaker”. These songs style are Electro House with Dutch House elements.
Next to these I’m working on some other tracks too, one of them is a collaboration with Hüseyin Karadayi.
After the success of “Fight (For Your Love)” we decided to make a new remix package. It will include a Huseyin Karadayi Remix which is sooo nice. Huseyin found the way how to make an unbelievable and unforgettable remix for this track. I think it’s awesome. Also a Sasa Savic and Ton Def Remix, which takes us to the new sound, dirty dutch beat and melody, it’s for the clubs. Tony Jaguar also started a remix in these days.
We are working on a new track with Thomy for 2010. It’s nearly ready. We’re making a summer song again. In these days we are doing the final touches.
^4 What do you think which track will be one of the WMC bombs this year?
That’s easy Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey”. I tried to explain it in long sentences, but I think it’s much easier to explain it in one word: BOMB!
I think it is possible that one of the housemaster comes up with a true bomb too. Copyright may drop a huge tune on WMC.
^5 What does your set up looks like (at home or in studio)?
A laptop is a whole studio. Includes everything: program, soundpacks, plug-ins…
^6 What do you prefer to use from DJ gear when you are playing?
I like to do the mixing on stage with 3 or 4 CDJs and a mixer. I like to make edits of every track I play, but that’s not possible, so I do it on the stage. I need a player for acapellas or tools and another for sounds (Upliftings, Cymbals, Crashes, etc.). I like to use USB sticks also, it gives me the possibility to do wicked things, because it’s more faster to search what I like to use.
^7 Who is you favorite producer/DJ and with who would you like to collaborate?
I have two DJs who helped me on the way completing my mixing technique. First one to mention is Roger Sanchez. In my early years I were listening “Release Yourself” all the time. Roger just knew how to put up a track after another and how to mix it.
Tommyboy is the second to mention for me. We were playing on the same party and I was checking how are his mixing techniques. Ouch! That was HUGE! How he were using the third player! When I could check his cd-case I saw a loads of Tommyboy Edits, Mash-Ups, Bootlegs. This was a changing point in my view. I knew if I want to really show my skills and style to the crowd I have to make my own edits from my favourite songs. So from that moment, I always do edits of the tracks.
Afrojack, Nicky Romero, David Guetta and Bingo Players are always working on my floor. By the way I’m playing tracks from so many artists; I have to mention Huseyin Karadayi, Consoul Trainin, Tony Jaguar, Annger Dimas, Sasa Savic and Ton Def, and Agebeat as the best upcoming producers for me.
^8 Where would you love to play that you haven’t played yet?
There are so many places! My favourite clubs are open-air clubs next to the sea.
^9 You are pretty young and talented producer. Tell us who influenced the most on you to make the music that you make?
There was no one, who really influenced my producing style. There were producers that I was thinking that they are good, but I produced my style always. I was not starting this to make music like someone else. I started producing, because it was the way to “write down” my feelings. I still hiding my feelings and memories in the tracks, but my new tracks are more dancefloor oriented. The best thing is to play your track in your set and hear how the crowd shouts. It is like when a mountaineer is on the top of the Mount Everest. That’s unbelievable.
^10 What’s your opinion about internet sharing music and sites that post music freely? Do you see there any advantages or disantvantages for producers/DJs?
Well. Not easy to answer this… It’s really good for upcoming producers. These blogs are well-vieved, so it can manage their songs to get to thousands of people.
But, it has a bad effect on the producers who are in the scene for a while. I mean they are doing their tracks for days or weeks and they hope money from this to buy new soundpacks and such things . If someone release a track and illegal sites share the track after a month, let’s say it’s ok, but usually you can find everything on the internet after some hours or a day and that’s effect the sales very badly.
In an other-view producers would like to promote their job for as many people as they can.
I think myspace, soundcloud and youtube is a good way for sharing music on internet. It’s free, legal and easy to use.
So I can’t really decide if it’s bad or not. Bad for producer, good for crowd. The DJ wants to make the crowd happy, but… So let’s point that sharing sites are really works on bootlegs and mash ups!
^11 Do you have any advices for upcoming young producers/DJs?
Work, work, work! Your musical skill will improve with every hour you spend on producing; makes you faster, better. Do your own style and don’t copy the others, so you can do your best! Estabilishing an own sound will helps you to be unique.
^12 Which software do you use for producing and why?
I use Ableton Live. I tried some programs before, but I chose this one. I found out that this one is working the best for Me. It’s easy to control, to record. I downloaded a 30 days avaible version and started to discover the program and I felt in love. She is my baby =)

^14 Can you tell us about “Messaya”?
Messaya is more than just a track. This word contains 3 words Me + Say + A. Me instead I, because it sounds better. Messaya means if you have a dream and you want it as strong to speak about it, you can get your dream come true! You just have to say to your self: I can make it.
It’s simple: I Messaya my dream.
