  3. Me Says:

    YOU MUST MIX IN KEY!

  4. AbdelLack Says:

Mixing in Key is a big problem in my opinion! Priority is to get the crowed active! Mostly tracks, that fit in key don’t “activate” the crowed! It’s more Important to create a logic climax of your set….

  5. Me Says:

Yeah, but nothing kills the momentum of a mix like a good key-clash that makes everyone cringe. If you know your tracks well enough and have a decent sized library, you can usually pick a track that meshes well and is good for the floor. And getting a mix that goes in key creates a whole new type of climax that you cannot get any other way. This isn’t just about playing your 40 favorite peak hour tracks in any order you want, an iPod can do that. This is an art form, one that every DJ should strive to continue to better themselves in. Check out all of your idol’s sets… you think LBL doesn’t mix in key? As far as I am concerned, if you don’t get your tracks in key, then you are just plain lazy. Worst case, if the song you MUST play isn’t in a relative key, you can just cut to a non melodic part of the song and mix out there.

Bottom line, there is no excuse to not improve the quality of your set.
